Perspectives Unfolded

As a personal project, I’ve gathered a collection of my travel photos from around the world. This selection includes shots from North America and various countries in Middle East. My aim was to observe how people react to these images- some may find them mysterious and unfamiliar, while others might feel nostalgic and reminiscent. It’s an exciting exploration of emotions through photography.

In the first section of this collection, my main goal was to evoke emotions and encourage viewers to explore their feelings through colors.
The impact of color on perspective and mood is a complex topic, and it can vary depending on cultural context, personal experiences, and individual preferences. Different colors can evoke different emotions and reactions, influencing how we perceive our surroundings and how we feel.

The emotions that we bring to the image can also affect how we perceive the colors and overall mood of the picture.
Someone who is feeling happy and joyful may see a picture with bright, vibrant colors as uplifting and energetic, while someone who is feeling sad, or melancholy may see the same image as overwhelming or too intense. The combination of color and emotion can greatly influence our perception and experience of a picture, highlighting the subjective nature of art and visual interpretation.
CMYK is a color model used in printing, which stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black). In the series of photos at hand, a specific color channel was removed from each image and that image was then posted on a background similar color coding to the removed color channel. This enables the removed color to be more prominent in the image and further trigger perspectives and emotions based on each person’s interpretation of the color. The last picture is portrayed on a mirror, representing the idea of reflection or self-reflection, which involves looking inward and examining one’s own thoughts and feelings.

In the second section, I took a different approach by removing colors from the images, allowing viewers to engage with the photographs based on their perception of textures and materials. It’s an artistic journey that embraces both the power of colors and the subtle interplay of materials.

Through my travels, I have captured the following series of photos based on a personal and subjective process that involved capturing the essence and mood of a particular moment from my perspective. As you view each image, decipher the story and meaning behind the moment from your perspective.
Pictures have the ability to evoke strong memories and emotions within us. However, the memories that are triggered can vary greatly from person to person. Each individual has their own unique life experiences and personal connections to the world around them, which can influence how they interpret and respond to an image.
Perception of an image can be influenced by metaphorical lenses, such as cultural or ideological perspectives.
The cultural or ideological lens through which we view an image can greatly affect how we perceive and interpret it. It is important to recognize that there is no “correct” interpretation of an image, as our individual perspectives and emotions shape our understanding of the world around us.
Our personal experiences, beliefs, and values can also act as a lens through which we view an image, shaping our perception and interpretation. It is important to recognize the influence of these lenses and to approach images with an open mind and critical awareness of our own perspectives and biases.
